The TFFC is a combination of ligament and shock absorber

TFCC injuries can damage two components of the TFCC.

  1. Shock Absorber

    1. This is similar to the meniscus or “cartilage” of the knee. It is a buffer between the ulna and wrist bones. It wont heal but often does not cause a lot of symptoms, or will settle after a steroid injection. If it does cause problems it can often be trimmed arthroscopically with good results.

  2. Ligament injuries

    1. These cause instability or clunking of the wrist. They often need repair and a specific post op rehab program.
